Meet the Founders

Entrepreneurs & Architects

With deep expertise in DevOps and Generative AI.

  • Dominik Rehbock

    Dominik Rehbock

    CEO

Strategy-driven entrepreneur with experience across consulting and deep-tech. Previously worked at Bain & Company and served as Strategy Director at Innolith, a battery technology company that raised over $120M. Outside of work, he's often skiing or chasing waves.

  • Benjamin Hofmann

    Benjamin Hofmann

    CPO

Cloud-native architect by background, with deep experience in DevOps and AI adoption. Co-founded AI4U at MaibornWolff to drive generative AI across the consultancy and its enterprise clients. Earlier: cloud migrations at Dräger, real-time microservices at Deutsche Bahn, CI/CD infrastructure at Jumio. Found in the mountains, in the ocean, or lost in electronic music.

  • Bastian De Groot

    Bastian De Groot

    CTO

Has spent over a decade building infrastructure where milliseconds matter, most recently across cloud-native, automation, and AI-driven operations. Before that, he ran high-frequency trading systems at Bloomberg. Off the clock, he automates factories in Factorio and plays complex board games.

How we got here

From an on-call shift to a funded company

By 2030, most enterprise IT will operate autonomously. Today it runs on the discipline of a few engineers, carrying pagers through nightshifts, chasing alerts, executing runbooks. We started Hyground because the old model is breaking, and because for the first time, it doesn't have to hold. Three founders with decades of experience building and operating production systems. One conviction: the next generation of IT runs on agents enterprises deploy in their own infrastructure, where their data stays and control stays with them.

  1. Since 2012 — Deep technical foundation

Our founding team’s roots go back more than a decade in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, testing, and large-scale software operations. This hands-on experience is the foundation for Hyground’s product vision.

  2. Early 2023 — First GenAI applications in SRE and DevOps

The team began exploring how generative AI could support real-world software operations, particularly in SRE and DevOps workflows at MaibornWolff.

  3. Early 2024 — Hyground innovation project and first prototype

Hyground took shape as an official innovation project, including the first working prototype: an AI-powered service-incident assistant for Kubernetes-based environments.

  4. Early 2025 — Founding team and spinout preparation

Dominik joined as co-founder, strengthening the founding team as Hyground began forming as a company and preparing its spinout from MaibornWolff.

  5. June 2025 — Hyground GmbH founded

Hyground was officially incorporated as an independent company.

  6. December 2025 — €3M Pre-seed investment signed

With the €3 million pre-seed round signed, Hyground enters its next chapter as a funded startup.
