Hyground vs Dash0

Investigate incidents across every system, not only what you route to Dash0

Dash0 is an OpenTelemetry-native observability platform. Its Agent0 co-pilot reasons over the metrics, logs, and traces ingested into Dash0, plus first-class GitHub and Linear connectors and a curated MCP catalogue. Every connector hands a SaaS vendor credentials into your systems and keeps the data plane on Dash0's side. Hyground runs inside your own perimeter and investigates across Datadog, Prometheus, Loki, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Confluence, Git, cloud APIs, and ITSM without re-platforming your telemetry.

Where the agent can actually look

Both products investigate telemetry and propose root causes. Agent0 works on OpenTelemetry data ingested into Dash0's own pipeline, plus first-class GitHub and Linear connectors and a curated MCP catalogue that connects external systems in a few clicks. Every one of those connections gives Dash0, a SaaS vendor, credentials into your systems while the data plane stays on its side. Hyground deploys inside your own perimeter and reads natively from any observability, ticketing, code, or documentation source you already run, including Dash0 itself.

Reads more than what's routed to Dash0

Hyground investigates across Datadog, Prometheus, Loki, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, cloud APIs, ITSM, Confluence, and Git as one source among many, all from inside your perimeter. Dash0's core signal is OpenTelemetry data ingested into its own pipeline; it reaches code and other systems through GitHub, Linear, and its MCP catalogue, but each connector hands Dash0's SaaS credentials into your systems and keeps the data plane on its side.

Runs on your own infrastructure

Hyground installs into your own environment. Telemetry, prompts, the RAG knowledge base, and investigation results stay inside your perimeter, including air-gapped sites. Dash0 is SaaS-only, hosted in vendor cloud regions; there is no customer-hosted, on-prem, or air-gapped deployment.

Bring or self-host your LLM

Connect Hyground to Azure OpenAI in your tenant, Anthropic, Google Vertex, Bedrock, or self-hosted Ollama via LiteLLM. Dash0 has not published a bring-your-own-model option; Agent0 runs as a managed part of the platform.

Grounded in your full knowledge base

Hyground ingests Confluence, Git history, PDFs, and Word docs into a vector store that lives inside your perimeter. Agent0 reaches code through GitHub, work tracking through Linear, and other sources through its MCP catalogue, but each connection routes your knowledge through Dash0's SaaS with credentials handed to the vendor.

Read-only by default

Hyground observes and advises; taking any action, restarting a workload, changing a config, or running a query, requires explicit opt-in. Agent0 runs in a sandboxed environment that clones repositories, executes bash commands, and drafts pull requests on its own, and its MCP connectors explicitly support destructive operations, which raises a very different review bar.

Operate across every cluster

A central Hyground manager coordinates an outpost in each cluster, with @cluster routing that sends an investigation to the right environment across dozens of production, staging, and on-prem clusters. Investigation, action, and knowledge all run at the edge inside your perimeter, not from a central SaaS tenant.

Always-on and scheduled investigation

Hyground starts a full investigation automatically the moment an alert fires, day or night, and runs scheduled sessions for recurring work like cluster right-sizing, CVE blast-radius, and RBAC audits. Agent0 surfaces live insights and answers on demand; the always-on, alert-triggered investigation and scheduled operational runs are where Hyground goes further.

A second variable cost on top of ingest

Hyground licenses by deployment tier. Dash0 bills per signal, metric data points, spans, and log records, plus separate Agent0 Credits at $0.60 each, with a root-cause investigation costing one to two credits.

EU and air-gap deployable

Hyground deploys into your own infrastructure, including EU-Germany and air-gapped sites. Dash0 offers EU-region hosting for telemetry storage but remains a US-headquartered SaaS platform with no on-prem or air-gapped option.

Decision

When each platform fits

Dash0 and Hyground solve different problems: an OpenTelemetry-native observability platform with an AI co-pilot, and an investigation agent that runs inside your own perimeter and spans your whole stack. The right fit depends on how much of your stack is already instrumented with OpenTelemetry and where your data needs to live.

Choose Hyground when

Your stack spans more than what's instrumented into one platform, or you need deployment inside your own perimeter and customer-chosen LLM providers.

Choose Dash0 when

You are building OpenTelemetry-native from the ground up, want unified metrics, logs, and traces in one SaaS platform, and are comfortable with a managed AI co-pilot and usage-based billing.
